Dunedin and Central Otago Scholarships

Aurora Energy Ltd will be awarding two scholarships of $5,000 in 2010.

The Aurora Energy Ltd Dunedin Scholarship is available to students attending secondary school in Dunedin, and who will undertake tertiary studies at the University of Otago.

The Aurora Energy Ltd Central Otago Scholarship is available to students attending secondary school in Central Otago, and who will undertake tertiary studies at the University of Otago.

DUNEDIN & CENTRAL OTAGO SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME 2010
NZEST is delighted that Aurora Energy Ltd will be sponsoring 2 one-year scholarships of $5,000. Entries close on Friday 26 November 2010.

  • The Aurora Energy Ltd Dunedin Scholarship of $5,000 available to students studying at a secondary school in Dunedin, followed by tertiary education at The University of Otago. Refer to poster for list of schools.

  • The Aurora Energy Ltd Central Otago Scholarship of $5,000 available to students studying at a secondary school in Central Otago, followed by tertiary education at The University of Otago. Refer to poster for list of schools.
Qualification
i Students must have attended secondary school in Otago in years 11, 12 and 13.
ii Students must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand.
iii Awards will be made to students in the year after they leave school, ie students leaving school in 2010 will receive their scholarships in March 2011. NZEST scholarships cannot be deferred.

Selection of the scholarship winners will be based on the following criteria:
i academic portfolio confirmed by school with certified copies of results
ii recommendation of school principal
iii handwritten personal statement about academic interests – see guidelines on form
iv results of external examinations, NCEA, CIE and IB
v interview of shortlisted candidates, selected from i-iv above.

Nomination by schools
Schools may nominate 2 students – however, if a school deems it has an outstanding group it may ask NZEST to accept further nominations.
